MasterChef finalist serves up 'grand slam' dinner on Crouch End tennis court

It was all in a good cause to raise money to refurbish the clubhouse at the Highgate Cricket & Lawn Tennis Club in Crouch End.

On Saturday evening (September 26), MasterChef finalist and club member Antos Tytko could be found slow cooking a pork shoulder, while violinist Thomas Gould’s quintet played The Four Seasons - all wearing tuxedos.

The meal was served on tennis racquets and themed around the Grand Slam tournaments. (Image: Highgate Tennis Club)

Is Mamma Mia! The Party really worth £235?

Dressed in my blue-and-white striped jumpsuit, wearing a lit-up flower crown I bought outside
the venue, I was ready to go.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm obsessed with ABBA. So, when my mum surprised me with
tickets to Mamma Mia! The Party for my birthday, I couldn't have been happier. Greek food,
ABBA and immersive theatre? It sounded like my perfect evening.
It feels like you are stepping onto the Greek island from the movie: blue-and-white colours,
flowers everywhere, fairy lights and, my personal favourite, a huge fountain in the middle of the
room.

‘I feel worthless’: Are men’s community groups the antidote to the loneliness epidemic?

“It's kind of an anti-manosphere group, really,” Tom Stroud said when asked how he would
describe his community.
He is talking about Shoulder to Shoulder, a London based men’s community that he and his
friend, Dan Shrigley, founded in February last year, when Dan reached out to Tom after seeing
one of his videos. When they met up, they bonded over how hard it is to make friends as adults
and wondered if other men feel the same. The community was born.

The Mayor of London calls for public bodies to combine forces to end homelessness

The Mayor of London said he would leave ‘no stone unturned’ in his
ambition to end rough sleeping by 2030.
At Mayor’s Question Time yesterday, Sir Sadiq Khan called for public
bodies to work together to end homelessness in the capital.
He said individual councils should join forces beyond their own borough
boundaries.
“If you speak to most rough sleepers, they don’t think about wards,
constituencies or boroughs so we shouldn’t either,” Sir Sadiq said.

The gender sport gap: Girls remain less active than boys

A gender gap in sports participation persists, with girls still less likely to be active than boys,
according to new data.
Data published by Sport England showed that in 2024/25, more than half (53.3%) of boys were
active compared to just under half (46.4%) of girls.
Being active is defined as at least 60 minutes of moderate activity a day, measured by asking
children whether an activity made them breathe faster than sitting down reading.

‘I'll kick myself in 10 years if I don’t go for it’ MasterChef finalist Antos on quitting his corporate job to pursue his dream of cooking

I step into the Cool Carrot in Highgate where Antos Tytko is busy counting how many forks his flatmate needs to bring from home – the venue is missing a few.
I'm meeting the 30-year-old north Londoner at his first solo supper club.
It is 6:15pm and guests are arriving in 15 minutes.
"I'm nervous but ready," he tells me whilst checking if the spoons are all there.
It is just a week after he quit his banking job to pu...

My quest to become British through a 1996 Cool Britannia exhibition - Written by a German with pre-settled status

As someone who didn’t grow up in the UK, I’m constantly looking for things that help me understand how the Brits tick.
When I heard the former editor of The Sun, Dominic Mohan, was opening a free exhibition about
all the things that made Cool Britannia cool in the nineties, I knew that was my chance to
become a little more British.
Maybe, once I understand what happened during Euro 96, which of the Spice Girls’ dresses was
the most iconic and learn all Oasis songs, Reform won’t kick me out in a few years....

’A disabled loo shouldn’t be an optional extra’ - On a mission to make London toilets truly accessible

Accessible toilets for the public should not be treated as ‘an optional extra’, a North London
wheelchair user has argued.
Wheelchair user Kate said London is not inclusive if you have a physical disability and is calling for
change.
When Kate moves around London, she assumes a toilet for her either does not exist, is out of order,
the lift is broken or it is simply unusable.
